Kidderpore College, a government-aided co-educational college, was founded in the year 1966 by the erstwhile Rector of Kidderpore Academy Sri Jitendranath Bandyopadhyay. His vision was to open the doors of higher education to the wards of the poor residents of the locality. This college is affiliated to the University of Calcutta since its inception. Situated in a part of the city which people from different linguistic and religious communities inhabit, the college typically represents the rich variety of our country. This area occupies a special position in the cultural map of Kolkata. Kidderpore was residence to three notable nineteenth-century Bengali poets — Michael Madhusudan Dutta, Hemchandra Bandyopadhyay, and Rangalal Bandyopadhyay.
The college has played an integral role in supporting the journal, and the robust work culture that this academic institute possesses has helped both the students and the teachers in shaping their successes in and outside of academia.
